Wild Art Columbus

Adam will be participating in Wild Art Columbus 2017.  A month-long initiative presented by Wild Goose Creative, #wildartcolumbus draws together the best of social media and the gathering energy of community-driven arts. Rather than seeing the ever-presence of the internet in our everyday lives as a setback to the potential for live encounter, the philosophy behind #wildartcolumbus is that they can be symbiotic.

Each day during April 2017, viewers of Wild Goose Creative's social media accounts will be invited to linger on and converse about art from a range of mediums, and connect with the artist as well.

The month will culminate in a gallery reception on May 2nd in the Wild Goose Creative community art space. With #wildartcolumbus, art goes beyond the gallery but still draws people together around an arts experience.

Belleza

Opening March 10th at 6pm at the Franklinton Development Association, 924 W Broad St, Columbus, Ohio 43222

Molly Ryan and Adam Hernandez are artists living and working in Columbus, Ohio. Adam is a painter and pursues his work full time, creating commercial work as well as showing in fine art galleries. Molly has a background in photography, holding a BA in Justice and Peace Intensive Photography, and currently owns her own event planning business. Molly and Adam have teamed up to produce a collaborative body of work, Belleza. With Belleza, the artists each explore their own mediums, their perceptions of beauty, and the intersection of their stylistic preferences.

Belleza was born when the two artists found antique windows in the alley behind their home. The artists couldn’t pass up the beautiful found objects discarded on the side of the road. These windows made natural canvases for a collaborative exploration into the artists perceptions of beauty.

Throughout Belleza, Adam uses his signature birds and bright color palettes while Molly layers photographs and textures she has collected during her world travels. In a time where the political and social climate is harsh and often dark, Molly and Adam believe that it is their job as artists to remind the public of the light and beauty they see daily in each other and the world around them.

Taking Flight: An Exploration of Art and Fashion

Please join us on Saturday, July 30, for "Taking Flight," a moving art installation where fashion breathes new life into painting, featuring local artist Adam Hernandez’s evocative Land of Thunderbirds exhibition and the couture creations of Peruvian fashion designer Juan Jose Saenz-Ferreyros.

This moving, interactive art installation will fly you to another world of avian-inspired beauty. Encounter an evening of art like no other you have experienced before.

Beverages and refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 7 pm, show begins at 8 pm. Tickets are $15 online presale, $20 at the door.

Juan Jose Saenz-Ferreyros is a highly acclaimed Peruvian fashion designer. Relatively new to the Columbus area, Juan has already taken the fashion scene by storm, showcasing his creations in multiple shows, including the 2015 Highball Costume Couture contest. Juan's line, Ferreyros Couture, will also be featured in this year's Columbus Fashion Week finale.
His custom-designed couture and costuming has been worn by prestigious celebrities and pageant contestants worldwide, including Miss Colombia Universe and Miss Peru US. Ferreyros Couture has been seen on the runway in locations such as Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and New York City.

Adam Hernandez's paintings are portals to an alternate universe: a world where Aztec-inspired gods and kings traverse amongst squalor and splendor, contemplating life’s heavy issues.
Hernandez was born and raised in the Bronx to a family of musicians and performers. As a child, the bravado and vibrancy of the graffiti that covered every surface of his city spoke to him. With the city's inspiration and the encouragement of his oil painter grandfather, Hernandez set down an artistic path.
Throughout his career, Hernandez has also found inspiration in the works of Pablo Picasso, Egon Schiele, Francis Picabia and Paul Cézanne, as well as the Abstract Expressionist Movement, the Lowbrow Art Movement and comic books. Hernandez currently resides in Columbus, Ohio.

“This is a journey to a place where time and space melt away. There are no rules. The gods and fates are not fair. This is a realm of imagination. Fierce beauty and endless unknown. History is written in the sky. This is a new take on the urban jungle. Giant birds nest in the ruins of once great cities. To survive here, you must put away fear.
This is not our land. This is the Land of Thunderbirds.”

– Adam Hernandez

On view: July 16 – July 30, 2016

“This is a journey to a place where time and space melt away. There are no rules. The gods and fates are not fair.
This is a realm of imagination. Fierce beauty and endless unknown. You must open your heart and mind.
This is a world without countries or borders. History is written in the sky. Matter is ever moving.
This is a new take on the urban jungle. Giant birds nest in the ruins of once great cities. To survive here, you must put away fear.

This is not our land. We must fight and strive to earn our stay.
This is the end and the beginning.

This is the Land of Thunderbirds.”
